Directing Romeo and Juliet - Feb 2012
My first project in 2012 will be directing Romeo and Juliet for Red Eye Gravy Theatre Company's first production in DC. This is a benefit production and all proceeds from the show will go to support The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Youth. The show is dedicated to the memory of Gaurav Gopalan, a beloved member of the DC Theatre Community who was murdered this past summer. All performances will be held at The Fridge located on Capitol Hill. Romeo and Juliet will run February 9-11, 16-18 with a special Valentine's Day performance on Tuesday, February 14. All shows start at 8PM. Tickets are $20.
Assistant Directing Pride and Prejudice - June/July 2012
This spring and summer, I will assistant direct Pride and Prejudice for Chesapeake Shakespeare Company under the direction of Isabelle Anderson. Isabelle has worked as an actor, dancer, teacher and director in Austria, France, Indian, the UK and the US. She is a founding faculty member of the Shakespeare Theatre's prestigious Academy of Classical Acting. Watch this space for more information.
DC SWAN Day - March 2012
On Saturday, March 31, 2012, The Georgetown Theatre Company and Women in Film & Video will host the 5th Annual DC SWAN Day, an all-day event featuring FREE Music, Theatre and Storytelling Performances, Poetry Readings, Visual Arts and Film Screenings. I am directing a staged reading of After the Prologue, a 10 minute play, to be read at the National Museum of Women in the Arts and starring Valerie Fenton and John Stange. After the Prologue is one of 13 short plays culled from 56 submissions by women playwrights from all over the USA, and directed by DC’s women directors.
Comedy of Mirrors - July 2012
I'm happy to announce that I was offered and accepted my first acting role of 2012. In July, I will play Luciana in Comedy of Mirrors produced by Pallas Theatre Collective. The show will play for five dates at The Studio Theatre as part of the 2012 Capital Fringe Festival and three performances at Warner Memorial in Kensington, MD. I'm delighted to work with such an exciting new company!
Directing for the Inkwell
In April, I directed a 10 minute segment of Baltimore playwright Rich Espey's haunting Following Sarah. This was presented at Woolly Mammoth Theatre as part of The Inkwell Theatre's Inkling Evenings
Trophies : A new play by Michael Boynton
On August 6, 2012, Pallas Theatre Collective will present Trophies : a staged reading of a new play by Michael Boynton. I will direct a cast of established DC professionals including : Kelli Biggs, Lee Liebeskind, James Radack, Rebecca Ellis, Stephanie Svec, Brandon Mitchell and Genevieve James Blasi. The reading will be held at 6PM in the Shirlington Campbell Meeting room of the Shirlington Branch Library in Arlington, VA. The reading is free and open to the public.
Casting Director for Pallas Theatre Collective
In late August, Pallas Theatre Collective invited me to become a permanent member of their company and I happily accepted. Not long after, Pallas identified a need for a Casting Director and I readily joined the staff in that role. In addition to my staff assignment, I will take on directing duties for the final show of their 2013 season. The Tragical Mirth of Marriage and Love : Short Scenes by Anton Chekhov will play at the 8th Annual Capital Fringe Festival and other venues around DC/MD. Watch this space for more details!
