Fall 2016 Projects!
|
With three directing projects and two one night only performances, I will be very busy this fall. First up, Clover will receive a staged reading at the 15th Annual Page to Stage Festival hosted by the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts! Our reading will take place on Saturday September 3rd at 11AM in the Israeli Lounge. Tickets are free (but limited!) and we welcome audience feedback after the reading. On Saturday September 24th, I will host a staged reading of Desdemona by Toni Morrison at the Baltimore Book Festival. The reading features local talents Valerie Fenton and Lillian Oben and coincides with Chesapeake Shakespeare Company's production of Othello opening in Baltimore on September 16th. Monday September 26th will allow me to let loose a little as I step back into my performance shoes (after a long hiatus!) taking on the Nurse and Gregory for an all lady version of Romeo & Juliet directed by the supremely gifted Kari Ginsburg. This one night only performance is produced by Shakespeare in the Pub and will be held at The Limerick in Wheaton, MD. Admission is free just don't forget to tip your bartender! Finally, October brings a unique and challenging directing project plus a one night only performance of a new play commissioned by the Jane Austen Society of North America. October 6-9, the first annual Fringe POP festival will run at the Logan Fringe Arts Space in D.C. Fringe POP pairs short film with 10-minute plays for a dynamic event mixing projections, live performance and film. I am directing Fully Present by Cynthia Faith Arsenault and Good As I Been To You by Anthony Szulc. I close out my fall theatre projects on October 20th, playing Rosalie Calvert in the new play Emma is Presented in Washington City by my Clover writing partner, Laura Rocklyn. Directed by Erin Bone Steele, this performance is a headline event for JASNA who is holding their annual conference in D.C. Whew! That's a lot!! I'm taking a long break in November and December but I'm already lining up projects for 2017 - including one big one I can't wait to tell you about. Stay tuned to this space for more details!

Clover receives reading at SWAN Day 2016

Laura Rocklyn, NickDePinto and I were thrilled to read selections from Clover at DC's 9th Annual SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day at the National Museum for Women in the Arts. Catherine Aselford, SWAN Day DC's longstanding organizer, has been a true support in allowing us to bring Clover, in all stages of its development, to SWAN Day for the last three years. We are happy to announce that Clover is now out of development and will receive a full production in September 2017. More details to come!

Company and Tour Manager - Advocates for Youth
After working as the Assistant Director on Out of Silence: Abortion Stories from the 1 in 3 Campaign at this summer's Capital Fringe Festival, I have now joined Advocates for Youth full time as the Company and Tour Manager for the National Tour. Our production will run a seven city tour opening in Atlanta in spring 2016 before completely its run off-Broadway.
Shakespeare in the Pub
Now that I have one year of Artistic Directorship under my belt, I look forward to making a return to performance in 2015. My first gig is a series of Shakespeare scenes - a Valentine's Day potpourri of love scenes, sonnets and monologues with a little bit of music - at the Limerick Pub on February 12, 7:30PM.
